Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours is not here, email us — a person reads it.
We aim to reply within 30 days. Please do not include prescriptions or medical details in your email — we do not need them and would rather not receive them.
My reminder did not go off
Almost always this is the phone's battery saver stopping the app in the background. Check, in your phone's Settings:
- Battery optimisation — set Caredo to "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimise". On Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus phones also enable Autostart.
- Notifications — allow them for Caredo.
- Alarms & reminders — allow Caredo to set exact alarms. Reminders cannot fire at a precise time without it.
Also open Caredo every few weeks. Reminders are scheduled a month ahead and are topped up when you open the app.
"Nothing scheduled today" after I added a medicine
This is correct if the dose time for today has already passed. Your plan is saved — you will see it under Your medicines, and the next dose is tomorrow.
I changed phones and my medicines are gone
Caredo stores your records only on the phone, encrypted, and deliberately does not copy them to the cloud. Signing in with Google is not a backup.
To move to a new phone, on the old one: Settings → create an encrypted backup, choose a password you will remember, and save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone. Then restore it on the new phone. Without that file, records on a lost or wiped phone cannot be recovered by anyone, including us — that is the cost of keeping them private.
I forgot my backup password
The backup cannot be opened without it. It is encrypted with your password and we hold no key or copy. Please store the password somewhere safe when you create a backup.
Google sign-in will not work
- Check the phone is online.
- Make sure the Google account you are choosing is one you can access.
- Try again after a moment; sign-in occasionally times out on a weak connection.
If it keeps failing, email us the approximate time it happened and your phone model. Do not send your password — we will never ask for it.
The camera did not read my medicine label
Label reading works best on a flat, well-lit, in-focus pack. It reads Latin and Devanagari script on the device, offline.
Caredo deliberately does not fill in the medicine name by itself unless the label marks it clearly, because a pack usually prints a brand, a generic name and a manufacturer with nothing saying which is which, and guessing wrong would be a safety problem. Pick the right one from the suggestions, or type it. Nothing is saved until you review and confirm.
How does the emergency button work?
Tapping it opens a sheet with two choices. Call ambulance opens your dialer with the emergency number ready — you press call. Alert family opens WhatsApp with your message ready — you press send.
Caredo never calls or messages on its own, and it cannot dispatch emergency services. In a real emergency, calling directly is always fastest.
Can my family see my medicines from their own phone?
Not in this version. Your records stay on your phone. You can alert family over WhatsApp from the emergency sheet, and you can share a printed or PDF summary you generate yourself.
Is my information safe?
Your records are encrypted on the phone with AES-256-GCM, and the key is held in Android's hardware-backed Keystore. We operate no server that receives your health information and we cannot read your records. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Does Caredo tell me what to take?
No. It organises the instructions you enter and confirm, and reminds you at the times you set. It gives no dosage or treatment advice and is not a medical device. Always follow your doctor or pharmacist.
